Risk/Reward Ratio...
Do What You Don't Feel Like Doing
Good morning y’all.
A few days ago, I found myself sitting down in my room, doing absolutely nothing except for thinking, loafing and lounging.
I later came to realize and understand that I do this far more often than I actually think I do and far more often than I’d actually like to.
Instead of seeking productivity and finding something to do, I’ll sit there and think about what I can do, what I should do and what I really don’t feel like doing at all.
Every one of these emails is supposed to have some true meaning behind it, as well as something of value that you can all learn from; a lesson, if you will.
That’s what I strive to deliver when I send out these emails.
So the lesson for this email is…
Do What You Don’t Feel Like Doing.
UGGHHH!
Yeah, I know. Believe me, I really do.
It’s far easier said than done, however, you still have to do what you have to do.
It’s that black and white.
And as cliche as it may sound, there is no disputing that this is the complete truth.
I’ve noticed that when I push and exceed the limitations that I’ve set upon myself in my own head and take care of certain things (the shit that I don’t really feel like doing in particular), the payoff is far more rewarding than it is not.
What do I mean, exactly?
I’ll give you an example…
Around 2 months ago, I had a junk removal job.
On this day in particular, we had a super busy day ahead of us, and quite honestly, I was NOT looking forward to it. At all!
But, despite this feeling, we had to do what we had to do, and 10 hours later, we completed everything that we needed to complete.
A long, busy, 10 hour labor day is what was on our plate and we ate that shit up!
Now, after a day like this, I can tell you first hand that all you really want to do when you arrive back home is CHILLLLLLL…
But, for me at least, there was no room for that.
My work mates most likely went home to chill out and relax for a while, but I didn’t.
I came home and went on a walk (I still had on my steel toe boots), then after my walk I came home and did around 100 push ups and 300 crunches, and after my workout I did some reading, some writing and I wrote up an email to send to a furniture moving company.
Do you feel exhausted just reading that??
I do, LOL!
And that’s exactly what it was. F**king exhausting, but I had certain standards set for myself and that was the requirement that I needed to meet.
And I met them. I got it done.
The feeling of having had such a busy and productive day was amazing, seriously speaking.
I felt completely invincible after I got everything done.
Now, going back to what I previously stated; the payoff.
The payoff, the reward, the satisfaction of having been productive and getting the best use out of the time that I have to do so is, again, an amazing feeling!
But had I decided to make like my work mates and go home to “ReLaX aNd cHiLL oUt”, then I wouldn’t have earned the amazing feeling that I had towards the end of the day.
That feeling is a reward of the work that you put in, and believe me, it truly is a great feeling when you feel invincible.
Hell, I was in the shower smiling from ear to ear because I knew that I scored 10/10 on the test that was in front of me that day.
I knew I aced it!
Like I stated earlier in this email, too, it's that black and white.
Do What You Don’t Feel Like Doing.
Take the risk for the reward, my friends.
I know I’m going to do so today and I hope you all join me in doing so, as well.
F**k it! Let’s be great today! Let’s be great this whole week, why don’t we?!
See you on Friday. 😘
