Just One Percent...
Oh My Goodness, This Email Is Long As F***!!!
Good morning and good day to you all! 😄
I hope that, wherever you are right now, that the weather is as lovely there as it is here in B.C.
I feel as though I’m on a lavish vacation the way the weather has been lately, but really I’m just out here trying to create motion, haha.
Anyways, I have a topic of discussion that I wanted to write about for you all today, and then I’m going to share a story with a lesson tied directly to it.
Cool?
Vamonos!
In life, we have these concepts known as principles.
And I don’t mean the old white lady that used to terrorize you and your friends every day back in high school… No.
I mean principles; A kind of rule, belief or idea that guides you in the right direction. You can say a good, ethical person has a lot of principles that they abide by.
A few months back, I was lucky enough to stumble across a new concept and a new principle that I had never seen or even heard of prior to that day…
And that is the 1% principle.

↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑
I love this principle because it is straightforward and it is super easy to both understand and implement.
Making small efforts every single day for a year can make all the difference between where you are currently versus where you’d like to be, because ideally, you’d like to be in a much better place than you are right now, but that takes time, work and effort.
The beautiful thing about it, though, is that you don’t have to do anything crazy, outlandish or outstanding…
You just need to follow this simple concept known as the 1% principle and remain consistent with becoming better by 1% each and every day.
I think it’s time for a little story, now…
Back in 2020, the year of the virus, I started working with my grandfather just before I graduated from high school.
I began working 5 days a week in the beginning, then eventually 6 days a week, and then, surely enough, I was quite literally working every single day, with no days off.
7 days a week we were delivering furniture for a furniture store, as well as picking up and dropping off furniture for 2 different upholsteries in and outside of the city.
Now, I have always been an athlete. I was born an athlete, but this job was highly demanding and it was so foreign to me, so I had to adapt and adjust accordingly.
I wasn’t as strong as I thought I was, or as I needed to be, and this job taught me that incredibly quick.
From having to deliver dressers and chests to reclining sofas and couch beds, I would be exhausted at the end of each day and pretty miserable, too.
In the beginning it wasn’t much fun for me… That is until I made it fun.
I began to look at this job as a challenge for myself and started to implement a daily workout routine into my life to see if I could make this job easier on myself, and that’s exactly what I did.
I implemented and used the 1% principle before I even knew what the f**k the 1% principle even was.
I could barely do 10 push ups in a row without the burning sensation rushing through my arms and my chest, so I decided to start small.
5 push ups every 20 minutes is how I went about it, and eventually, by the end of the day, I would have surpassed more than 100 push ups for that entire day, which is 100 more than most people.
That is progress and that is what the 1% principle is all about; PROGRESS.
That’s how I thought about it, and looking back on it now, that was probably the best way to go about thinking about it.
In one week, I went from doing 5 push ups every 20 minutes to doing 10 push ups every 20 minutes, and I went from having no shoulders to having shoulders I could admire and be proud of!
The capability of the 1% principle was beginning to show itself, and I was one happy individual.
I was just as proud to look in the mirror as I was proud that I did what I said I was going to do; make my job easier for me to do.
It was no longer a burden or a pain to lift heavy sh*t every single day and I was more content with my job than I was before I implemented this powerful principle.
The moral of this story is the moral of this entire email; The 1% principle is an extremely beneficial principle to abide by and in the long run, it will prove to serve you well.
Holy smokes, this email is kind of lengthy!
I really hope I didn’t bore you all with my long story, hahaha.
Anyways, if you made it to the end of this email, you’re a trooper and I salute you.
Even I got tired reading this entire email back. 😂
I wish you all a fantastic Friday! I’ll be back to bug you all on Tuesday.
Take care.
