45, 15 and 5...
If You Know, You Know... You Know?
Good morning everybody!
Forgive me if this email is complete garbage, but I do not have the desire to write today, quite honestly…
But, I’m still going to write, because that’s what I do. I’m a writer.
Now, today’s topic of discussion is… NUMBERS!
I am by no means a big numbers guy, but I was laying down in my room the other night, a little bit tipsy, I’m not going to lie, and I had an idea for an email and this email is that very idea come to life…
I was watching a video, and there were three numbers in that video that gave me a great idea for an email.
Or at least what I think will be a great idea for an email… I don’t know, I guess we’ll have to see, eh…? 👀
45, 15 And 5 were the three numbers given…
Now, I don’t know if any of you have ever seen those numbers in unison together, or if you all have any idea how historic and iconic these three numbers really are, but I’ll explain it all in just a moment.
Maybe this image may ring a bell to you…
We all know who this is… THE GOAT! 🏀
On June 7th, 2012 in the Eastern Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs, LeBron transformed into a psychopath and completely lost his mind!
Being down 3-2 in a best of 7 series to arguably one of the greatest teams of all time, the 2012 Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat were on the brink of elimination and on the verge of having their entire season come to a tragic end.
But LeBron James had other ideas…
In what is highly regarded as his best NBA game ever played, LeBron dropped 45 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists in a 19 point blowout victory against an incredibly talented and stacked Boston Celtics team.
I vividly remember being a kid, 10 years of age, watching this game at my cousin's house and my jaw being on the floor for 48 minutes straight…
An unbelievably historic and outstanding performance from the kid from Akron, Ohio.
Now, my overall point and reason for writing this email is this…
ASPIRE TO BE GREAT AT ALL COSTS!
This game of life that we all play is TOUGH, no doubt about it, and there are a countless number of things that we cannot control…
But two things we can control are our effort and our attitude.
As a collective group of individuals who have already made the decision that we want our first and last name to hold weight in this world and truly mean something one day, that means that we all have to maneuver through life in a different kind of way.
Different from your average, that is.
We have to wake up every single day with the same look in our eyes, the same attitude and the same will to give our best effort that LeBron James did back on June 7th of 2012.
Now, of course we’re not going to have a historic performance every single day we step out into the real world and play the game that is known as life…
Some days, we’re going to have mediocre performances that resemble that of a starting point guard dropping 8 points in 30 minutes of playing time…
Pretty mid, right?
And other days, we’re going to have great performances, like James Harden dropping 61 on the Knicks at the Garden back in 2019, or Luka Doncic dropping 73 POINTS in Atlanta this season just a few months ago.
But the bottom line is this…
If our attitude and efforts don’t align and are not on par with where we want to be, then simply put, we will not get to where we want to be.
ASPIRE TO BE GREAT AT ALL COSTS!
This way of thinking will serve you well, just as it served LeBron well.
I challenge all of you to aim for a 45, 15 and 5 performance next week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I’ll be doing the very same thing… 😅
Take care, everybody, and have a fantastic weekend.
Daddy loves you! 😘
(P.S. — I asked my 10 year old cousin if he knew who that guy in the picture is with his jaw on the floor, and he had NO F**KING CLUE! These kids don’t know a damn thing about the classics, I tell you…🤦🤣)
